I am a good lawyer, but I am not up to date on modern technology. Will that create an ethics issue for me?
Currently, a good lawyer can still practice law as long as he or she has good support staff who know how to electronically file and retrieve documents. But, unfortunately, those days may be changing. There is a rule floating around at the level of the American Bar Association suggesting an amendment to the Rules of Professional Conduct that would make it a requirement that a lawyer be knowledgeable on technology, at least enough to be able to practice law.
