Pennsylvania Court Reporters Association Mission Statement and Purpose

 

 Mission Statement:

The Professional Organization in Pennsylvania for Those that Capture the Spoken Word.

The Purposes of this Association shall be:

  • To assume responsibility for leadership and enlightenment of users of verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting of proceedings and for the people in this Commonwealth regarding the special competency, importance and value of the verbatim shorthand stenographic reporting system.
  • To promote a broader understanding and acceptance of the qualified verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporter as indispensible to the judicial system of this Commonwealth by disseminating by all appropriate means, accurate knowledge and information with respect to the verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting profession and the technological advancements in realtime and litigation support services.
  • To promote harmony and a spirit of mutual assistance between the profession of verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting and the Legislature, the Courts and Administrative Agencies and members of the Bar.
  • To encourage, establish and maintain high standards of professional education, competence and performance.
  • To promote and encourage the exchange of professional knowledge.
  • To stimulate and encourage the establishment and maintenance of continuing education programs for persons active in the field of verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting in this Commonwealth.
  • To cooperate with state and local governments, their agencies and other organized groups for the benefit and general welfare of the public and for recognition of the verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting profession.
  • To advance the interests and general welfare of the verbatim shorthand or stenographic reporting profession.
  • To foster professional and social contacts among the members and exchange of information.
  • To do any and all things that are lawful and appropriate in furtherance of these purposes.
